On July 26, 2014, after 16 hours of pushing upward, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita, Maya Sherpa, and Dawa Yangzum Sherpa became the first Nepali women to summit the infamously dangerous and unpredictable K2, a 28,251-foot peak that straddles the border between Pakistan and China.
