Among its many distinctions, 2020 will likely be remembered as the point of no return for telemedicine around the globe.
Australia has decided to embrace this reality. On Friday, Australia’s health minister Greg Hunt announced that temporary telehealth policy changes, which have led to 40 million telehealth consultations during the pandemic, will be made permanent.
“There’s not been much good that’s come from Covid,” Hunt said. “One thing that has come from Covid is the fact that we have skipped a decade and jumped from 2030 to 2020 for the delivery of telehealth for all Australians.”
