7 Apps to Teach Kids About Money

28.02.22 | Cuca Margoux

The days of working hard to earn a buck aren’t exactly gone, but the personal finance landscape is certainly more complicated now than it was a few decades ago. Budgeting and building credit are only the beginning—you also have student loans, mortgage rates and maybe even cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

It’s all a little much for an adult. But for a kid? Forget about it.

Leadership When the Chips Are Down

28.02.22 | Cuca Margoux

A century after his death, Ernest Shackleton and his unsuccessful Antarctic expedition offer a rich lesson on how to embrace failure.

You are on a journey through an inhospitable landscape. Resources are limited, and experience, although useful, is inadequate. Parts of the territory are mapped, but the land itself is shifting—places you were counting on have relocated or ceased to exist. Visibility is limited, and what you can see may not be real. Merely staying alive is a struggle, and as you move painfully toward your goal, you are conscious always of time running out.

7 Imperatives for Moving Beyond Digital

28.02.22 | Cuca Margoux

In the roughly 30 years since the first commercial internet browser was created, “being digital” has become the mantra for business survival. Digital efforts have been proliferating greatly as companies work to catch up with technological innovation—and COVID-19 massively accelerated the pace.

Yet despite having put so much energy and investment into digitizing, most companies have not gained a competitive edge. In fact, digitizing may have even made things worse as companies dedicated more and more of their cash, time, and energy into simply playing catch-up with their rivals. Being digital—whether that’s having a sophisticated e-commerce engine or using a powerful customer relationship management (CRM) package—isn’t enough anymore.

A Guerra dos Homens

25.02.22 | Cuca Margoux

A guerra é insatisfação acumulada,

Sede desenfreada de conquista e de poder,

Ambição louca e desnorteada,

Morte quase sempre certa e anunciada.

A protecção e o resguardo,

A Woman With A Passion for the Mountains – Ellen Hollinshead

25.02.22 | Cuca Margoux

by Steve Lipsher

On her first day of skiing, Ellen Hollinshead got her first kiss and fell in love – with skiing.

“I was 13 … and went to this little resort outside of Pittsburgh, and I met this cute boy. He asked if he could kiss me,” she recalled. “I felt, wow, skiing is sexy! I like this sport!”

Although she struggled on the slopes that first day, she kept going back – actually looking in vain for the cute boy – and incidentally discovered something magical about skiing that has continued to cast a spell over her now for 40 years.

Why We Need to Champion Diversity in Cycling

25.02.22 | Cuca Margoux

Understanding diversity, inclusion and representation in cycling.

Cycling is at a crossroads. Prescribed by doctors as a key part of the UK’s obesity strategy, and providing a safe means of transport in the midst of a global pandemic that renders public transport as a risk, there’s never been a better time to get on a bike. At the same time, the Black Lives Matter movement has sparked a step-change in the way society – and, indeed, sports – regards the importance of diversity and inclusion, and not just in relation to race and ethnicity.
